As President for 2015 Tony Haywood chose Rosemere Cancer Unit as his charity and £200 was sent on behalf of Eccleston Bowling Club to the unit.

AGM to be held in Eccleston Institute on Thursday 7th January 2016 at 7.30pm.

The Green closes 18th October.

Winners of The Autumn Pairs Sunday 20th September F. Anderton and S. Speed won 21-09 against R and E Crawshaw teh competition was sponsored by Esselle Holidays.

Winners of The Carrington Challenge Sunday 13th September 2015 B and M Cumberbatch won 21-14 against R and E Crawshaw the competition was sponsored by Northern Trust.

The Club Charity Competition on Saturday 16th May was won by Andy Smith who beat Frank Turner 15-11.
Barry Laithwaite beat Cath Banks 15-10 in the Consolation Final.

The Open Ladies Pairs Sunday 7th June was won by E. Buckingham and J. Roscoe 21-12 against M.Bannister and A. Harrison.

The winners of the Open Mixed Pairs Sunday 28th June were C. Fitch and M. Dransfield who beat S. Williams and L. Smith 21-09.

Presidents Day 19th July
The weather held off to make a most enjoyable day for President Tony Haywood.
The winner in the main competition was Martin Kenyon who beat Jack Carter 15-03.
The consolation winner was Marjorie Whittle who beat Rose Haywood 15-08.

 

The A.G.M. will be held in the Institute on Thursday January 8th 2015 at 7.30pm.

The Autumn Mixed Pairs on Sunday 21st September was won by W. & A. Harrison who beat M. Holden and L. Ollerton 21-15.

NEW MEMBERS

Eccleston Bowling Club are looking for new members for the 2015 season, March to October. Adults ladies/men and juniors 8-16 yrs. Free coaching is given on Wednesdays 4-5pm and Saturdays 10.30-11.30am. All bowling equipment is provided free apart from a pair of suitable flat shoes.

Results from Presidents Day Sunday 20th July 2014

The main competition was won by Doreen McDermott 15 - 9 against Janet Doherty.

Consolations was won by Brian Makinson 15 - 12 against Margaret Whittle.

President Cath Banks thanked everyone for all they did to make it a lovely day.

Charity Competition on Saturday 17th May, the main competition was won by Les Holden 15 - 5 against Carol Pearson. Consolation Competition was won by Jack Carter 15 - 12 against Doreen McDermott.

Ladies Pairs on Sunday 1st June was won by E. Glover & L. Ollerton 21 - 18 against C. Burns & B. Purcell.

Mixed Pairs on 22nd June was won by M. Holden & L. Ollerton 21 - 12 agianst T. and P. Roscoe.

The proceeds from our Coffee Morning in March have been used to buy new chairs and benches.

Congratulations to the Ladies A Team for again winning the league and to Cath Banks for winning the Ladies Merit.

The Autumn Pairs Sunday 16th September had to be abandoned at the quarter final stage due to heavy rain.

The Carrington Chalenge Trophy Saturday 15th September was won by W& A. Harrison who beat F. Anderton & S. Speed 21-15.

The end of season hotpot on Saturday 8th September was won by Christine Turner and Brian Leech.

Presidents Day was a big success this year with the winner of the main competition being Brian Makinson who beat Tommy Reid in the final. The winner of the consolation final was Brenda Carter who beat her husband Jack.

Junior News Jack Haywood made it to the semi-final in the Wigan Subs Junior Classics on Saturday 30th June.

Sunday 24th June 2012 Mixed Pairs Competition was won by W and A. Harrison 21-4 against G. Crawshaw and A. Crank.

Sunday 3rd June 2012 Ladies Pairs Competition was won by L. Hall and M. Price 21-19 against M. Perkins and A. Harrison.

Saturday 19th May 2012 Charity Competition for Rosemere Cancer Unit, the main competition was won by W. Tuson who beat R. Crawshaw 15-10. The consolation competition was won by T. Reid who beat E. Crawshaw 15-5.

Ellen Crawshaw is President for this our centenary year 2012 and Les Holden is President elect for 2013.

At the AGM it was decided to raise subs from £20 to £21 for full members, juniors stay the same at £1.

During the close season Derek Iddon has been working with the Greens Committee to get the Green in good order for the start of the new season. He does a lot of work behind the scenes and it is very much appreciated.

Junior bowling tuition starts on Wed. 4th April 4pm - 5pm and Sat. 7th April 10.30am - 11.30am. New members are welcome any age to learn, bowls will be provided.

Saturday 10th March a successful coffee morning was held which raised £400 for club funds. A further 10 chairs have been purchased for around the Green with some of the proceeds.

The path along the hedge from the gate has now been relaid and made wider. The Green is now closed for the winter all work has been completed.

The end of season hot pot night was enjoyable as usual, but it could have been a warmer night!

Junior News:
A successful 1st season for our Junior Teams with both the A & B Teams finishing 3rd in their leagues.

The Autumn Mixed Pairs on Sunday 18th September was won by R. & E. Crawshaw who beat G. & B. Foster 21 - 15.

The Carrington Competition on Saturday 17th September had to be cancelled due to heavy rain.

red arrowsDerek Iddon's President Day on 24th July, the main winner was Les Holden who beat Ellen Crawshaw 15-14. The consolation competition was won by Barbara Iddon 15-10 against Bill Tuson.
We had a lovely fine day rounded off with a fly past by the Red Arrows on route from the Southport Air Show just as the presentations were being made, Derek tongue in cheek said that he had ordered them!

Junior News:
The Junior practice days on Wednesdays 4-5pm and Saturday Mornings 10-30 - 11-30 are still proving very popular with an average of 20 turning up for each session.
Both the A and B teams are doing well in the Junior Leagues.
Jack Haywood and James Whalley are both now playing on the Lancashire Juniors team.

Open Mixed Pairs on June 26th was won by M. Owens and M. Bannister who beat G & E. Glover 21-16

Charity Day on Saturday 21st May organized by President Derek Iddon raised £230 for the Rose Mere Cancer Foundation at Preston Hospital. The winner at this event was L. Holden who beat J. Carter. The consolation was won by E. Crawshaw who beat S. Snowden.

The Ladies Pairs competition was played on Sunday 5th June and was won by L. Bennett and A. Leonard who beat B. Norris and E. Crawshaw 21-12.

The Club's Coffee Morning was held on 12th March and made £326, we bought 2 new garden benches for around the green.

Eccleston Bowling Club's AGM was held at Eccleston Institute on Thursday 14th Jan 2011. Jack Tootell was given a vote of thanks as he stepped down as chairman, Frank Turner has taken over this position. Graham Crawshaw was elected on to the committee in Frank's place. Derek Iddon was welcomed as the 2011 president and Ellen Crawshaw was voted in as vice president/president elect.eccleston bowling club

Dennis Whittle worked extremely hard last year applying for and receiving grants from Grassroots for the purchase of sets of bowls and bags etc. together with secure bowls storage cabinets the residue was used towards a new mower cabin. He also secured a Sports Grant for the purchase of a new mower and cassettes and a Small Sparks Grant for path repairs.

A meeting between the three registered coaches is to be arranged regarding the setting up of a junior bowls team for girls and boys up to the age of 16.

Adults are to be encouraged to join the club as well.

First the club would like to thank Graham Crawshaw who is responsible for the design and making of the club logo and also all the fixture, results and competition sheets as well as all the printed notices around the Green. A splendid job well done.eccleston bowling club way in

Jack Carter, Tony Haywood and Walter McDermott have all Qualified to conduct Foundation Coaching for The British Crown Green Coaching Scheme and certificates for safeguarding and protecting children. It is hoped they will be able to use these in the 2010 season.

The 2010 President is Doreen McDermott and the Vice President Derek Iddon.

Tony Haywood and Jack Carter have successfully completed a course with The British Red Cross for Emergency Aid for Sports.

Bill & Dorothy Tuson beat Les & Shelia Holden 21-18 in the final of the Mixed Pairs competition on Sunday 27th June.

Presidents Day 2010 was won by Harry Norris who beat Derek Iddon 15-8 in the final. The consolation winner Ellen Crawshaw beat Jim Dawber 15-14.

Sport England as part of the Small Grants Programme have awarded us with a grant of £5329-00 for the purchase of a much needed mower and accessories. This is funded by the National Lottery.

The Club Mixed Pairs Competition Sunday 15th August was won by Tony Haywood and Christine Turner beating Jim Dawber and Esther Grundy in the final.

The Carrington Trophy Final was won by S & N Kitchen who beat R & E Crawshaw 21- 20 this competition was sponsored by Northern Trust.

The Autumn Pairs competition was cancelled due to bad weather.
